You and Huey are mid-conversation when the music stops.
Not just Huey's music. All the music. Every drum, every flute, every impromptu dancing circle goes silent at once.
Then, from the northern edge of the village, comes a humming sound. A deep, quiet, yet resonant buzz. It's low powerful rumble cuts right through you and rattles your guts. Then you hear the screams.
Suddenly, bursting over the rooftops, is an enormous being built of dark iron and pale stone shaped vaguely like a person, but wrong in all the proportions. It's arms are longer than they should be and in the center of it's chest is a window revealing a hollow, pulsing gray light inside. Wherever it walks, the color goes out. The marigold garlands turn pale. A mural on a bakery wall bleaches to nothing. A child's red kite fades to ash gray and falls. Even the smell of gravy fades.
Huey stands next to you, his blue hair brighter in contrast to the spreading gray, his lute clutched to his chest. "What do we do??", he asks frantically.
